About your host:
My fascination of all things Disney begun at the young age of three, when I first had the opportunity to visit Disneyland in Anaheim, California. My enthusiasm for the parks grew with my frequent visits to Disneyland over the coming decades and resulted in me becoming a Disneyland annual pass holder and regular guest.
In December 2006, I finally realised a life long dream of visiting Walt Disney World in Florida and I was amazed by the experience. This trip assured me that the Disney parks indeed played a special part in my life and the sheer size of Walt Disney World, its attractions and unique features will ensure that I will return to Walt Disney World many more times over the coming years.
Although Disneyland will always be my "home park" I have now set a number of long term goals to visiting all of Disney's Parks across the globe to enjoy everything that these amazing theme parks have to offer.
Many people have asked me why I have developed such a passion for Disney and the Disney Parks in particular. Although it hard to put these emotions into words, I feel that I captured my thoughts well in my inaugural Single Rider Podcast show, when I summed it up by saying, "I really love the feeling you get when walking onto Mainstreet for the first time, after being away for so long. Letting the feeling of nostalgia flow over me is something that I will always cherish. There is no doubt that I love to get my "thrill on", but the escapism of being a child again and reliving childhood memories is a experience that can not be replaced".
I will continue to be fascinated by the fantastic work that Walt Disney started so many years ago, and I look forward to sharing these experiences with my viewers and listeners of The Big D and The Single Rider Podcasts.
Why Podcasting?
For the past decade, I have been taking my video camera into the parks and recording attractions for my own entertainment and use. Not only did I enjoy the process of recording footage, but it was also a fantastic way for me to relive the "magic" when I was away from Disneyland. When Podcasting first started a few years ago, most shows where recorded in an audio only format and this was a format that did not interest me at the time. I wanted to relive the attractions by seeing what the Disney Imaginers had crafted and the unique environments that these attractions were immersed in.
With the release of the 5th generation Video iPod in 2006, the Podcasting world experienced a dramatic change. All of a sudden, I wanted to share my Disney memories with the rest of the world by utilising this exciting new platform. With the introduction of HD (Hi-Definition) video recording equipment occurring at the same time, I decided to enter the world of video Podcasting by purchasing a new HD camcorder and recording new park footage in the amazing High Definition format.
After recording over a hundred hours of video and establishing The Big D Podcast as one of the most downloaded Disney Podcasts currently available, I decided that I needed to branch out and bring a little more personality to the Big D Podcast through the development of the audio based Single Rider Podcast.
Instantly it was clear that the show had delivered what it was intended to do, and the show developed a personal relationship between the myself as the producer of the show, the listener of the podcast and allowed us to share our combined love of the Disney parks.
The feedback from my loyal Big D subscribers, the vocal Disney podcast Networks members and the numerous new subscribers to the podcast was overwhelming, and it became immediately evident that The Single Rider Podcast had found a very personal niche within the online Disney community.
The Single Rider audio podcast has become the perfect compliment the video based Big D Podcast and I look forward to both of these shows entertaining their subscribers over the coming years.
I believe that Podcasting has become one of the most enriching elements of my life. I have had the privilege of meeting people from all over the US, Canada and the World, through my podcasts and I would not of had the opportunity to come into contact with these wonderful people without the Single Rider and Big D shows.
Never having the opportunity to meet these fantastic people would have been a great loss to me, and I can honestly say that some of my closest friends are the people I have met through Podcasting. Almost all of those people have been part of the Disney Podcast Network community and it has become my favourite place on to interact with Disney fans on the internet.
I am truly a lucky man to have the pleasure of sharing my love of Disney with my subscribers, close friends and the DPN community.
Thank you for subscribing to my shows.
Chris
